Shoes
Most foot disorders are
caused by: poor quality or ill-fitting shoes. Proper fitting
and quality shows go a long way to provide comfort and minimize
damage to your feet. If you have problems with your feet,
seek the advice of a chiropodist
Here are some guidelines
to be used when shopping for shoes:
- Try shoes at the end
of the day. Your feet swell and become larger due to standing
or sitting during the day.
- Do not try to conform
your feet to the shape and size of shoes.
- Fit shoes to your largest
foot. Most people have one foot larger than the other.
- Do not go by the size
of the shoe that you are accustomed to. Get your feet
measured every time you purchase shoes. Your foot size
increases as you get older.
- If the shoes are tight,
do not buy them. Do not try to break into them.
- Avoid buying high heeled-shoes
with pointed or narrow toe box, because the pressure under
the ball of the foot increases as heel height increases,
thereby putting greater pressure on the forefoot as it
is forced into the pointed toe box.
- Shoes sizes vary with
brands and style. Therefore, select a shoe based on how
it fits you and not by the marked size.
- There should be a half-inch
of free space from the end of the shoe to the end of your
longest toe. " Walk around in the shoes to ensure they
fit well and feel comfortable.
- You should be able to
freely wiggle all of your toes in the shoes
